Product development strategy
Vectura’s product development strategy is to combine its proprietary device and formulation technologies with existing off-patent or clinically validated drugs, some of which are repurposed to treat new indications, with inhalation as an improved, more effective route of delivery, or to treat the same indication, with inhalation as an improved, more effective route of delivery.
Using this approach, product development time and costs usually associated with early clinical trials and the related risk associated with developing new chemical entities or drugs are significantly reduced, and a strong proprietary position is created.
Vectura has a significant track record in the successful management of pharmaceutical development programmes. The company’s scientists have access to a wide range of modern, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) processing and analytical equipment at its facilities in Chippenham, Cambridge and Nottingham. Vectura works in conjunction with pre-clinical, clinical and regulatory experts as well as CROs in the development of its products.
