Vectura’s product development strategy is to combine its
proprietary device and formulation technologies with existing
off-patent or clinically validated drugs, some of which are
repurposed to treat new indications, with inhalation as an
improved, more effective route of delivery, or to treat the same
indication, with inhalation as an improved, more effective route of
delivery.
Partnerships: Vectura develops pulmonary products in-house and in collaboration with its pharmaceutical partners and out-licenses certain products that require significant resources for later stage development and commercialisation. The Company also selectively out-licenses its device and formulation technologies to other companies. Its partners include Baxter, Boehringer Ingelheim, Merck KgaA, Novartis, UCB and Otsuka.
Intellectual property: Vectura protects its products and technologies, which include patents, trademarks, design rights and confidential know-how. The patent portfolio comprises about 135 families with patents in the key territories of the United States, Japan and the main European member states. Vectura vigorously maintains and protects its intellectual property estate.
